The old school is more alive than ever. A game like Duke Nukem Forever has reminded us that there was a time when action games were forgetting modern complexities and consisted only in picking up a weapon and targeting creatures of all kinds. No magic salutations, but sweat to kill each opponent and some other medicine cabinet. While the title of 3D Realms, finalized by Gearbox, did not leave us as good taste as we would have liked, there is a new opportunity that lovers of the essence of this genre that yearn for the first Quake or Doom revival.
